The purpose of the Corporation is that which is stated in the Articles of Incorporation filed with the State of California, July 26, 1983, and as amended.
The Corporation is organized under the Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation Law for public and charitable purposes and not for privileged gain of any person. The purposes are:
* To alleviate hunger among the disadvantaged and elderly.
* The gleaning of surplus of food from every available source, for distribution among charitable organizations, and needy persons in a fair and equitable manner. No recipient shall ever be required to pay for foods donated to the Corporation.
* To inform the disadvantaged and elderly as to their nutritional needs.
* To make the public aware of the problems of the poor and elderly.
The organization serves YUBA and SUTTER Counties.
Funding is provided by a monthly membership fee of $5.00, donations, fundraising functions, a thrift shop, charity sales (serving over 35 local charities), etc., which all contribute to expenses, mortgage, office, warehouse, utilities, transportation, etc.
